BAUHAUSSTORY

An excursion into the history of the Bauhaus

The masters and students of the Bauhaus Art School, founded in 1919 in Weimar, set themselves the goal of abolishing the separation of art and production in a return to craft as the basis of all artistic creation, and to create objects and spaces for a future more humane society through exemplary designs. Under his founder and first director Walter Gropius (1883-1969), the Bauhaus completed a turn to industry in 1923 in an internal process of clarification. The exhibition, opened in 1923 under the motto “Art and Technology – a New Unity”, presented the entire spectrum of Bauhaus work. With the Haus Am Horn you could get an idea of a residential building of the future.
